Part 1:
Stories are important to childhood because they can teach children life lessons. They create an amusing, enjoyable way to teach children that generosity is important and kindness is rewarded. These stories also teach children to love to read. If they have a good time having stories read to them by their parents, they will enjoy reading later in life.
Part 2:
Stories teach older people important lessons as well. They can spark a lively discussion in high school English about whether or not killing is ever justified or much later on an adult book club. They provide an opportunity to escape our sometimes mundane world, and learn about life in the process.
Part 3:
Stories allow people to say whatever they want about national issues. They can address the problem of homelessness, violence, war, or economics. They create an opportunity for the writer to convey a message and also for a reader who can find the voice to agree with or contradict the writer. They can give hope to those who are stuggling, provinding a success story and guidance.
Part 4:
One story I loved when I was little was Eloise. I was half-laughing, half-appalled at her wild antics. Part of me wanted to be her, while the other part was scandalized by her. This conflict of emotions always made me love this story.
Part 5:
- Characters should be relatable for the reader
- The setting should be appropriately described in proportion to the story
- Characters should a a variety of dispositions
- A touch of humor is definitely appreciated
- The reader should want to know what happens next. Keep us guessing!
- The main conflict should be detailed and well though out
- Temes should be present and easy to identify
- The ending shouldn't be too drawn out
- Fantastical elements should have a grain of truth to them
